During the spring of 2002, the Chiefs of Police of the Cape Cod Region entered into serious discussion over the immediate need to form a non-profit group to expand police training and to procure specialized police equipment for the area.
Recognizing the unique features that the Cape Cod offers, as a recreational and tourist destination, the chiefs perceived a critical need to not only enhance police training, but to share resources to adequately protect Cape communities.
The chiefs found that some necessary support resources for special emergencies or life-threatening situations could be hours away and that this time delay could prove costly during times of emergency or crisis. The chiefs of police researched other local police coalitions throughout Massachusetts and then put into motion a plan to combine some of the resources of their departments to more efficiently assist residents and visitors.
Since the training began in 2002 over 1500 police officers from Cape Cod have been trained in,
• Rapid Response to Active Shooter Incidents,
• High Risk Motor Vehicle Stops and
• Low Light Tactics
• Less Lethal Specialty Impact Munitions
It is the goal of the training cadre to provide the most up to date training to the officers working on Cape Cod.
